VMP 2017 – Volati Management ProgramTell us a bit about yourself! I am 36 years old and originally from Karlshamn in Blekinge. Today I live south of Gothenburg with my partner and our two children. I studied Industrial Engineering at the Lund Institute of Technology and spent a year as an exchange student in Buenos Aires. After my studies I worked for three years as a management consultant at Implement Consulting Group in Malmö and Copenhagen.
Why did you apply for the Volati Management Program? I enjoyed working as a consultant, but I wanted to have more room to influence, drive change and build companies. The Volati Management Program felt like a really good next step in my career.
Tell us more about your time as a VMP! It's been a few years now... My first rotation, in the fall of 2017, was at Besikta Bilprovning in Malmö. Then six months at Volati's head office in Stockholm and finally at Bokhandelsgruppen, also in Stockholm.
What did you do next? My target company was Besikta Bilprovning and I worked there as Business Development Manager for just over a year until the company was sold. I then worked for a while with business development at Volati and as interim CFO at Scanmast. Since the fall of 2002 I have been CEO of Väggmaterial AB, which is part of the Salix Group.
What has VMP meant for you? During and after the program, I have been exposed to many different companies, industries and functions and have learned from many talented people. I also gained an understanding of the different challenges that companies can face, from a deregulated inspection market to fierce competition in the B2C arena with digital products and e-commerce. I also gained a deeper understanding of the owner's perspective, but also the management's view on priorities and strategy. I have had the opportunity to test myself as a leader, what it is like to work as a CFO and now as a CEO. I've had an incredible journey at Volati, a time full of challenges and fantastic opportunities that have helped me grow.
